My name is Blaise Mariner (he/him/his) and I am a postdoctoral researcher in the SMack Lab. I have a spirited love for science and the scientific process, but I am mostly interested in unraveling the how and why we age. During my PhD at the University of New Mexico, I investigated a highly-conserved, evolutionarily-evolved genetic pathway found to be necessary for lifespan extension in many simple model organisms. My current research harnesses the modern advancements in multi-omics to unearth age-related changes in heterogeneous mammals. My training background also includes some polymer engineering, basic robotics, and programming. Outside of science, you can find me on the trail, on two wheels, or at a sports game!
